Named for the bird. Rooted in the hills.
Red Kite Artistry is named for the birds we watch from our garden every day — soaring, fluid, completely at home in the air. That sense of movement and colour is at the heart of everything I make — the weathered greens of the hills, the russets of autumn, the shifting light where water meets sky.
The colours of the landscape, brought inside.
Two ways of working. The fluid pieces begin with poured acrylic — I tilt, torch and layer, anticipating what the colour will do. The chemistry of the paints lead the image.
The textured pieces are the opposite: slower, more deliberate, built up surface by surface until the colour lives exactly where it should.
